His coaching record is second to none: from 1987 through 2000, he had 14 ten-win seasons and finished with a top-five ranking in each of those; 9 ACC championships; 9 bowl victories; and 2 National Championships. Coach Bobby Bowden took the Florida State Seminoles from near-extinction to perennial contenders and undefeated national champions.

But even more impressive than his accomplishments on the field is his influence off the field. That’s why we couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with and recommending the upcoming film, The Bowden Dynasty. This story is TOO BIG for the small screen! Featuring an all-star cast of participants, The Bowden Dynasty will come to 400 plus theatres across the country for one night only as a LIVE WORLD PREMIERE FILM EVENT on Sunday night, January 8, 2017—the eve of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Produced by the same production team behind ESPN Films’ The Book of Manning and I Hate Christian Laettner, this feature-length documentary film explores the life of Bobby Bowden and how he fought against all odds and countless obstacles to forge one of the greatest achievements in the history of sports. His Florida State teams won the hearts of America and thrilled their fans by flirting with perfection in each of those years.

But The Bowden Dynasty goes way beyond football. It explores the universal themes of faith and family that are so important in Coach Bowden’s life. His life-story is one of inspiration as he truly seeks to live a life of Authentic Manhood. The movie does a great job telling his football story but also how his life reflects so many of the manhood truths and principles we discuss in 33 The Series: how he continually lives out our manhood definition by rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously and investing eternally; how he follows Jesus’s lead of being a life-giving spirit both on and off the field. It shows him modeling the Warrior and King Faces on the field and the Lover and Friend Faces off of it. The producers have captured the story of a great man taking what God has given him and living out true Authentic Manhood.

The Bowden Dynasty will inspire all of us as men to embrace our own platforms and to live out our Authentic Manhood in a way that brings glory to God and blesses those around us. It examines how Coach Bowden inspired acts of courage and grace while changing the lives of those around him. For all the accolades bestowed upon Coach Bowden and his teams for their on-field achievements over the years, the insider stories of the coach and his enormous impact on those around him have never been shared on the big screen. Now, on the 30th anniversary of “The Dynasty” run, those stories will be told!

What a great opportunity for all of us pursuing lives of Authentic Manhood to grab a group of guys, go to the movie on January 8th and be inspired together. To invite someone that you’d love to introduce to your 33 group or just begin a discussion about Authentic Manhood (a video trailer featuring 33 The Series will be played before the movie begins). We are proud to help promote and partner with The Bowden Dynasty to tell the inspiring story of a man who is living-out Authentic Manhood, whose legacy is not only winning championships but serving God’s purpose in his life.
