When God seems silent
“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” - Psalm 13:1
Have you ever sent a text message, seen the dots pop up…and then nothing?
The silence stretches out longer than you expected, and you start to wonder what it means.
It can feel like that with God sometimes.
You pray. You wait. You listen. But heaven seems quiet.
And in that silence, doubt can start to creep in—Has God forgotten me? Is He even listening?
But silence doesn’t mean absence.
For me, it seems that God often does His deepest work in the quiet places—beneath the surface, where we can’t see it yet.
Think about a seed buried in the soil: nothing seems to be happening, but in reality, new life is forming in the dark.
The challenge for us guys is to learn to be still, to not have to always jump into action or try to force an outcome, but to trust that God sees us, loves us, and is working in our lives even when we can’t see it.
Can you trust that His silence is not His absence—but an invitation to deeper faith?
Has there been a moment in your life where God seemed absent, but later, you saw how He was orchestrating every detail behind the scenes?
