“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.” - 1 Timothy 6:6-7

Did you know that our brains are wired to adapt to our current circumstances as a way to conserve energy?

Think about when you learned to drive vs. how you now operate your vehicle through muscle memory, not thinking consciously about your actions.

It’s the same for everything in our lives. The new job that once felt thrilling and exciting becomes the daily grind. Our spouse, who we once couldn’t stop thinking about, can become the person we take most for granted.

This is why chasing the next thing can feel so appealing—because it snaps us out of autopilot and gives us a hit of novelty and discovery.

Men often buy the lie that we’ll finally feel satisfied when we reach that next milestone, when we have just a little more.

But here’s the catch: more never ends. It’s a treadmill that keeps us running but never arriving.

What if the secret isn’t in getting more, but in seeing what’s already in front of us?

Gratitude shifts our eyes from what’s missing to what’s already given and leads to contentment in the goodness of God in our lives today.

The truth is, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side—it’s greener where we water it.

What about your current life do you need to pause and notice with fresh eyes?

What would surprise your younger self about your life today?

Can you lay down the endless chase for more, more, more and embrace the gift of gratitude for what’s right in front of you?
