The stories our bodies tell us
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Our bodies are incredible storytellers. They hold the narratives of our joys and sorrows, our triumphs and traumas.
When we learn to listen to the messages our bodies are sending us, we gain valuable insights into our emotional and spiritual well-being.
Stress, for example, can manifest in a variety of physical symptoms—headaches, muscle tension, digestive issues, and more.
Unresolved emotional pain can contribute to chronic pain, fatigue, and a weakened immune system.
Many of us live disconnected from our bodies. But from the beginning, God designed us to be embodied beings. And in Revelation, the story ends with us once again inhabiting bodies on a new earth.
In fact, the Hebrew word for soul (nephesh) refers to our ENTIRE being, including the body.
Our bodies bear the weight of the stories we carry—and hold deep wisdom about where we need healing.
What sensations do you notice in your body right now?
What is your body trying to communicate to you?
How can you experience God’s presence in your body—by noticing His breath of life in you, by practicing gratitude for all your body can do, or maybe by just pausing for a couple of minutes to breathe in God’s goodness and His love for you?
