The God who sees
“So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” for she said, “Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.” - Genesis 16:13
I believe that at our core, every human wants to feel fully seen and fully loved.
But many of us are afraid to open up and let ourselves be truly known.
Maybe you’ve been betrayed by people you thought you could be vulnerable with, and you’ve put a protective wall around your heart.
Maybe you’ve tried to let others in but felt rejected or like you don’t really matter.
Hagar knew that feeling. She was mistreated, cast aside, and left alone in the wilderness.
But she was not invisible to God.
In the desert, at her lowest point, God met her. He called her by name. He reminded her that her life mattered, that her story wasn’t over, and that He was with her.
That’s when she gave Him a name: El Roi—“the God who sees me.”
As men, we often carry things in silence. We put on a strong face, even when we feel unnoticed or overlooked.
But God sees. He sees the weight you carry. He sees the battles you’re fighting behind closed doors. He sees where life feels hard for you.
You don’t have to strive to get His attention. You already have it.
You don’t have to prove your worth. He already knows it.
Can you believe today that you are fully seen and fully loved by the God who never looks away?
