“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” - Hebrews 11:8

There are seasons when the path ahead feels clear. You can see where you’re going, what needs to be done, and how to get there.

And then there are seasons when you can’t. The next step feels uncertain. The answers aren’t obvious. The clarity you’re used to just…isn’t there.

Many times, it’s in these exact moments that God calls us into something new.

This can be unsettling. We like to know where we’re going. We want a map, a plan, some sense of control over the outcome. But faith rarely works that way.

I often think about the story of Abraham, who heard a voice telling him to leave his family, his community, his culture and venture into the unknown. He didn’t know who this Diety speaking to him was, let alone where this path would lead. But he trusted it was God and said yes.

So many of us would have doubted, questioned, or chalked it up to a voice in our heads (I’m often tempted to do that when I’m unsure or fearful). But through Abraham’s obedience, God changed the course of human history.

Often, God gives just enough light for the next step—and no more. He gives us clear direction, but not a full picture of what it means for us and our futures. I believe He does this not to frustrate us, but to invite us into trust.

Every step of trust shapes us. It loosens our grip on control and deepens our dependence on God. It reminds us that we are not following a plan—we are following a Person.

Clarity often comes after obedience, not before.

Where might God be inviting you to trust Him with the next step, even if you can’t yet see where it leads?
