“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;” - Psalm 37:23

Remember taking road trips as a kid (in the days before GPS), where your parents would ask you to help them read the signs on the road?

“Keep an eye out for Exit 75,” or “Look for a gas station on the left,” were the landmarks that told us we were headed in the right direction.

Life with God often feels this way to me…learning to read the signs He uses to point us in the direction we’re meant to go.

Recently, I had a business opportunity arise that seemed perfect—one of those scenarios that would be a dream come true. I had been working on it for a long time.

The conversations were going great, and I felt so strongly that God was in it.

Then it fell through.

I was discouraged, confused, and honestly, a bit angry.

I really thought God was doing something…

Well, it turns out He was…it just wasn’t what I expected.

With that door being closed, I redirected my attention to another opportunity that turned out to be even better than the first. I probably would have missed out on the better opportunity if the first one had actually gone through.

In hindsight, I can see God’s hand in each step of the process, but along the way, all I had were little nudges to take the next step, to see what would unfold, to even be redirected along the way.

At the end of the day, it’s not so much about the destination, but about the journey of trust and learning to walk with God each step of the way.

In your life today, where are you trusting the Lord to direct your steps into the unknown?

As you’ve navigated through life, what are some signs God has used to show you your next steps?
