“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).” - Matthew 1:23

The days before Christmas invite us into a unique kind of waiting.

It’s the pause before the celebration, the quiet before the joy, the stillness that makes room for the mystery of what God has done and is still doing.

Waiting can feel uncomfortable. We wait for clarity, for relief, for healing, for prayers to be answered in ways we can understand.

We wait for God to move, and sometimes we wonder why He seems to take His time.

But Christmas reminds us that God’s silence never means absence.

Long before Jesus was born, God spoke the promise of Immanuel—God with us—into a world that felt lost, weary, and unsure.

Generations passed before that promise took on flesh, yet God was not idle. He was working in hidden places, preparing a fulfillment far greater than anyone expected.

Our own seasons of waiting work the same way. We may not see movement, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

God is present in the longing, shaping our hearts, strengthening our trust, and teaching us to look for Him in the quiet moments we might otherwise overlook.

Whatever you are waiting for this Christmas, remember the God who fulfilled His promise in Bethlehem is the same God who walks beside you today.

He sees you, He loves you, and He is closer than you think.
