“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” - Psalm 13:1

There are moments in life when God feels close—when prayer feels natural, Scripture speaks clearly, and His presence is easy to recognize.

And there may be seasons when He doesn’t feel so close.

You pray, but it feels like your words don’t go very far.
You listen, but hear silence.
You wonder if maybe you’re doing something wrong…or if God has stepped away.

The silence can be unsettling.

Throughout Scripture, we see that silence doesn’t mean absence.

David wrote words like these in the Psalms. I think it gives us a glimpse of him learning to trust God in a deeper way. A way that didn’t rely on constant reassurance or immediate answers.

Often, what feels like distance is actually an invitation.

An invitation to trust God’s character when you can’t feel His presence.
To believe He is working, even when you can’t see movement.
To keep showing up, not because it feels good—but because He is good.

Faith grows differently in the quiet.

It becomes less about what we experience and more about who we trust.

Where in your life does God feel distant right now?

What would it look like to trust that His silence is not His absence—but an invitation to deeper faith?
