What are you feeding your soul?
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” - Matthew 4:4
I’ve spent a lot of time around fitness and training, and one thing becomes clear pretty quickly:
You can’t out-train what you keep feeding yourself.
A man can work hard in the gym, but if he’s constantly fueling his body with things that work against his goals, eventually it catches up with him.
The same is true spiritually.
We are always being formed by something.
The conversations we replay in our heads.
The media we consume.
The people we listen to.
The pace we live at.
The beliefs we keep repeating.
The voices we allow to define us.
Most of us don’t drift into spiritual health. We drift into distraction, comparison, resentment, anxiety, or numbness.
That’s why daily connection with Jesus matters so much.
Not because we’re trying to check a religious box.
Not because God loves us more when we’re disciplined.
But because our souls need nourishment.
We need truth to interrupt the lies.
We need grace to quiet the shame.
We need God’s presence to remind us who we are.
We need Scripture, prayer, stillness, healthy community and reflection to reorient us when the world pulls us in a hundred different directions.
Your soul is being fed by something today.
The question is whether what you’re taking in is helping you become more alive in Christ.
What have you been feeding your soul lately?
What is one simple rhythm you could begin this week to create more space for God’s truth, love, and presence?
