Receiving His grace
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…not by works, so that no one can boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9
Most of us are far more comfortable earning something than simply receiving it.
We know how to work hard.
To prove ourselves.
To show that we’re capable and deserving.
And while those things can be good, they can also shape how we relate to God.
We start to believe that His love works the same way.
If I do enough…
If I get it right…
If I stay disciplined…
Then I’ll be accepted. That I’ve earned it.
But the gospel tells a different story.
God’s love isn’t something you achieve.
It’s something you receive.
You don’t earn grace.
You don’t qualify for it.
You don’t prove you’re worthy of it.
You simply receive it as a gift.
And for many of us, that’s harder than striving.
Because receiving requires surrender.
It means letting go of the belief that our value comes from what we do—and trusting that it comes from who God says we are.
A beloved son.
Fully known.
Fully loved.
Before you accomplish anything.
Where might you be trying to earn what God is already offering freely?
What would it look like to simply receive His grace today?
